I love fantasy. I love sci-fi. And I love books with a romance. This combines all three! So why two stars instead of four or five? I don’t think it quite pulled together in the last few chapters. The bird’s question was kind of answered? But also it was a bit of a cop out. And it felt like the author thought she was making a more profound statement on humanity than she actually was. I call that the Phillip Pullman Ending (not a fan of The Amber Spyglass, if you couldn’t tell).
But the first half was good and I liked the two main characters.
